LATEST NEWS

November 13, 2025
Mark your calendars! Race registration for the Marquette Trail 50 will open at 8am EST on Black Friday (11/28/2025) on UltraSignup.

Race dates: August 14th & 15th, 2026| Race capacity: 375 for the 50K, 175 for the 50Mile | The 50K fills quickly, don't wait to register (typically within 30 minutes) | We will NOT maintain a waitlist for the 2026 race | Please plan ahead, entries are not refundable or transferable to other racers or years.

If you want to volunteer in 2026, you can sign up here.
All volunteers will receive a T-shirt or buff or other race goodies as a thank you. We also offer a complimentary entry to a future event for a full day's volunteer assistance (8+ hours over race weekend).

Two training runs will be held in 2026: Sunday, June 28nd at 7 AM ("small loop" only, 11 miles) and Saturday, July 18th at 7 AM ("4 Peaks Loop " only, 10 miles). The June training run will meet at the Forestville Trailhead. The July training run will traverse the 4 Peaks of the big loop, but on a short, more direct 10 mile route. This training run will meet at the second, paved Sugarloaf parking lot. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

June 26th - 28nd is Marquette Trails Fest. Registration Opens March 1st, 2026. We strongly recommend racing the Twin Peaks Trail Half Marathon on Saturday and joining us for our short loop training run on Sunday. Twin Peaks offers over 2,500 ft of climbing on technical single-track and is great training for Marquette Trail 50. Marquette Trails Fest also offer various bike races along with a 5k and a kids running race.

Merchandise will be available for purchase during registration on UltraSignup. We will close the merchandise store in early Spring so plan ahead if you wish to place an order. All merchandise MUST BE PICKED UP ON RACE DAY. WE WILL NOT SHIP ORDERS.

Video: Year after year, Nick Jensen from Floline Media impresses us with his ability to capture everything that IS the Marquette Trail 50; the people, the trails, the energy, the way that the MT50 has developed an entire identity. Here is the recap for 2025.

August 10th, 2025
As we kick off race week, we wanted to send out important reminders. We've outlined a few essentials below, but please review the race email prior to Friday for full descriptions.
5K & Kids 1 miler. On Friday, August 15th 2025, we'll host our 5k and kids 1 mile races. The 5k will start at 7:00 and the 1 miler will start at 7:00. Adults can accompany children on course without the need to register (non-registered adults will not receive a finish time or medal. Race day registration and bib pickup will be from 5:30- 6:45pm at the start/finish line.

PACKET PICKUP.  Packet pickup times are Friday, August 15, 2025 from 4:00PM – 8:00PM at Forestville Trailhead. There will be a very limited and last-minute pickup option on Saturday morning from 4:30am – 4:45am – we cannot accommodate a large number of racers so please only exercise this option if completely necessary.  ID is required at packet pickup, and you must pick up your own bib.
PARKING. This year ALL racers will be allowed to park at Forestville Trailhead on Saturday. However, parking is limited & preference will be given to those racers who carpool with at least one other racer.  Vehicles with two or more racers will be allowed to proceed up to the parking lot if capacity allows. We will have parking attendants checking bibs.  If you are the only racer in your vehicle, or if the vehicle has spectators and will be driven away immediately after the start, you will need to park in a designated area along the road (0.25 – 0.75 miles from the Start/Finish) as directed by our parking attendants. The later you arrive on race morning, the farther away you’ll be required to park. The ideal time window to arrive is 4:30am - 5:00am. Arriving later will put you at risk of missing the required pre-race meeting at 5:15 and likely require a longer walk to the start.
PRE-RACE MANDATORY MEETING. Race announcements will begin promptly at 5:15AM.
MASS START.  We will have a Mass start of both the 50k and 50 Mile races at 5:30am. We have a roughly one mile “roll out” loop that will allow runners to spread out.
COURSE MARKING. The trail is marked with orange flags and ribbon. It would be rare to run more than 200 yards without seeing any markers. If you have gone longer and not seen any markers, you might have taken a wrong turn. If you notice markers close together, we are trying to tell you to pay attention - a turn or intersection is coming. Backtrack if you make a mistake. DO NOT go off trail or bushwhack!  To avoid confusion, we will add extra signage on the trail where possible. However, understand the general design and flow of the race course. Consider bringing a race map, just in case.
AID STATIONS. Aid stations will have: Water, Hammer Nutrition HEED Drink, Soda, Hammer Nutrition Gels, Fruit, Cookies, PBJ sandwiches, Pretzels, Potato Chips, Granola Bars, and Candy. *THIS EVENT IS CUPLESS - you will need to have and use a bottle, cup, or hydration system to refill at aid stations.
We are a 100% volunteer organization, from the Race Director to the person holding the road crossing sign, and we are lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers.  Please be respectful and remember to thank the volunteers you encounter during race weekend. All proceeds support the trail organizations the course traverses along with some of the local cross country teams.

June 08, 2025
The first training run will be Sunday, June 22nd at 7am at the NTN Forestville trailhead. We will guide the short loop only (about 10 miles). Marquette Trail Fest is happening this weekend and we recommend running the Twin Peaks Half Marathon to those who want to pack in a big training weekend. Kid events and numerous mountain bike events are also offered.

The second training run will be on Saturday, July 19th at 7am at the NTN Forestville trailhead. The big loop is the 20+ route that you'll encounter on the second half of the race. Cellular service is limited to not available on almost the entire route. We are asking everyone to have the route saved on their phone or gps watch for this training run. We will have leaders guiding the route at various paces but we feel it's important for everyone to have the ability to navigate back to the start if they get separated from their group for whatever reason. The route will not be marked and there are numerous trails in the area that make it easy to get off track. The GPX file can be found above this update. Apple users have had success with "MapOut" while "Gaia" is one of the options for android users. You'll need to download the file ahead of time and have the ability to use it offline.

As a reminder, these training runs are non-supported. Please bring any aid (nutrition and water), bug spray, etc, you'll need with you. Wasps are common so please bring your EpiPen if you are allergic. The short loop typically takes between 2-2.5 hours with the big loop taking between 4-6 hours. Please let us know, either by email or responding to our facebook event if you are attending. This will help us in determining how many volunteer course leaders we’ll need on both training days.
